Niseko, Japan Snowboard Trip 2.2010
Japan was awesome.
Niseko is way different than other places I've been in Hokkaido, or anywhere in Japan for that matter. Usually you could get untracked, deep turns all day while everyone was cruising the cat tracks. Not so in Niseko. Tons of local pow rippers and half of Australia in town meant getting up early for freshies. So cold and so light you can hardly feel the tracks when things got worked though. 4 days straight of knee-to-waist deep turns and everything from bluebird and calm to vertigo-inducing whiteouts and -20 with gale force winds. We planned a cat trip but after checking out the mountain (huge with tons of slackcountry) and talking to some locals about the cat-served terrain we decided it wasn't necessary.
Started dumping when we arrived and we had tons of new snow every morning. Sickest snowboard vacation to date.
